So this is the second time I have cut off and donated my hair to Little Princess Trust. It has taken me just under two years to get my hair back to the required length it needs to be again. For those of you that aren't aware of the charity, they accepted donated hair to make wigs for children and young adults that are going through chemotherapy and have lost their own hair. It gives them a little bit of normality in their lives and with the wigs being real human hair, they're more comfortable than synthetic hairpieces.

There are other charities out there that do the same thing but they all have slightly different requirements but these will be listed on their individual websites, please make sure you read them and follow them because if your hair doesn't fit the bill it gets discarded and it's a massive waste of time and effort.
I decided I wanted to do something drastic and dye my hair blue. Once my hair had been cut off and styled, I had it bleached as light as we could get it, without doing heavy damage. I have been dying my own hair every shade for around 14 years but I would NEVER attempt to bleach my hair at home. It can go so horribly wrong that it's best left to professionals so I went to a local salon.
And then I used a semi-permanent dye from Schwarzkopf for the blue. Now I've used their permanent dyes before and they've always worked really well but the semi didn't comb/run through to the ends of my hair as much as I would've liked. I also ran out and had to use the back up box of blending colours (you can get kits with three different colours to mix it up) as well. And it STILL left patches where I'd missed the blonde. So if you pick the Schwarzkopf semi dyes, you will need extra boxes because it hits your hair, stains and then doesn't really pull through from your roots to the tips.
