Kel McGowan is Kelligrafie
Ok last week I was reading Voltaire's Calligrapher by Pablo De Santis. The plot. Well, I know it's about somebody who writes for a living. It's based around the time before printing presses really took off and there was still a call for people to write letters and copy books by hand. But that's as much as I can really tell you about this book in particular.
It was translated from Spanish so I don't know if some of the meaning got lost along the way but I found the narrative very rambling and didn't make any sense. It dodges from place to place with odd characters popping up here, there and everywhere but there's no clear pacing or linking between the scenes. The characters are dull and one dimensional. Not a very good book at all.
Next week I'm reading: The Delegates' Choice - Ian Sansom
