Kel McGowan is Kelligrafie
The book for this week was On Becoming A Fairy Godmother by Sara Maitland but it's a bit of a weird one because it turned out to be a collection of short stories - 15 in total. They sort of re-tell stories of famous women that you'll have probably have read about, from different sources such as fairytales, Biblical women, myths and legends. But far from being totally turned on their heads like the three pigs being the villains and the wolf being the good guy - it's far more subtle than that.
There's a real mix, some of the stories are genuinely brilliant - I especially recommend Why I Became A Plumber and Sailing The High Seas. Others not so much, and there can be a bit too much focus on sex for my own personal taste, although some readers might like that. There's something in here for everyone but I found that the first few stories were the best and then they tailed off in quality the further you get into the book.
3/5 - because some were great and some weren't.
